Jamie Rickard
Jamie assumes the position of Pre-construction Director at Arte Construction and is responsible for all bidding and technical design activities within the business. Jamie has over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry and is experienced in both theory and practical elements of the delivery of residential, educational, and commercial new build and refurbishment sectors.
Jamie’s career has focused primarily on the front end of projects, either in the work winning or design management functions of Tier 1 contractors and residential developers, such as Willmott Dixon, Engie/Keepmoat, Telford Homes and Bellway.
This diverse experience enables Jamie to develop a breadth of technical, commercial and contractual skill sets that he is able to apply to façade remediation projects.
Key attributes include:
• In depth understanding and management of the BSR Process.
• Management and direct internal /external stakeholder engagement in the development of technical working drawings whilst ensuring compliance with the necessary standards and statutory obligations.
• Exploring materials and build methods that ensure high-quality solutions.
• The co-ordination and integration of specialist designs whilst ensuring compliance with the client brief, CDM regulations, and other UK standards and regulations
• Identify risk during the pricing and conceptual design stages and implementing appropriate mitigation strategies during the pre-construction phase.
• Reviewing contract conditions ensuring that they are fair, reasonable and proportionate to the proposed works.
• Acting as strategic lead during the tender and negotiation process, identifying and co-ordinating all internal bid resources, working with the estimator(s) to ensure an accurate net price is achieved in line with business margin aspirations.
More recently, as Head of Technical at Bellway Homes (Eastern Counties), Jamie was responsible for overseeing and supporting a team of 11 technical co-ordinators and engineers. Working collaboratively with the appointed Health & Safety Advisor, he was accountable for ensuring compliance with the CDM 2015 regulations during the pre-construction stages. Fundamental to the success of his role was his ability to identify the capabilities of each of the team members and creating individual training plans to assist their development. This ensured that they were furnished with the necessary skills to undertake their various roles effectively.
